Introduction into the world of wine
All over the world people make wine. But where does good wine come from? It’s a question which for many isn’t easy to answer. In the introductory course you learn how to really taste! By doing this you become more aware of what it is your tasting and you start to discover things in wine you probably would never have expected. The introductory wine course starts on the sailing ship ‘Achernar’ on Wednesday 5th November 2008 from 19.30 – 22.00. Stories about wine, a lot of tasting and enjoying for four evenings! During the introduction course wine from different countries will be tasted. It’s a delicious and fun experience. At the end you’ll be able to answer questions like:
• How long can I store wine? And why should I store wine?
• How is wine made and from which types of grapes?
• Which wine should I drink with a steak in pepper sauce? And with any other wine-food combo?
• What does the label tell me about the wine, and what doesn’t it?
The course consists of four evenings. Several different white and red wines will be tasted. Bubbly wines and dessert wine will also be discussed. The last lesson we will talk in depth about wine-food combinations. All this will be held on a typical Dutch sailing ship at the museum harbour in Amsterdam and led by a qualified oenologist (sommelier).
